Exercise or dieting what’s more important to lose weight?

May 04, 2016

It doesn’t matter.

I just read a huge article on why diet is way more important than exercise. It was fascinating and I agreed with most of it. Yet still…

It doesn’t matter.

I personally just lost 5.5 pounds in only 15 days by just adding ten minutes of running each day. But still, I know…

It doesn’t matter.

Here’s what does:

“When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported back, the rate of improvement accelerates.”
Thomas S. Monson

Weigh yourself daily. Get a scale and use it in the morning each day. If you aren’t happy at your weigh in, fix it that very day. Eat less or exercise more. You pick which to focus on. Do both if you want.

It doesn’t matter.

Most people say weighing in daily is too frequent. It isn’t. With a good scale you can see progress every day. If you don’t see improvement in your weigh in, don’t stress since your weight can swing up for odd reasons. However, use the scale as motivation so you make progress even faster.

What does matter is striving to get better daily. If you decide to take an aggressive approach with your day (or overall program) be vigilant and keep tracking daily so you don’t rebound.

Set goals. Track against your goals. Adjust. Repeat.

Stop worrying about what diet or exercise program to pick. Get started today. Don’t worry so much about the how.

It doesn’t matter.
